Cirque (Short)
Katrina Frederick’s “Cirque” is a hilarious five minute look at an unorthodox circus attraction. A young man (Guy Perry) goes into a waiting room, where an older gentlemen (Ron Jarvis) is already waiting. The older man is more interested in the breasts that adorn the waiting room, though, so he lets the young man go in ahead of him. He enters a room where there is a list of rules, and a hole with black curtains covering it. A hand with a plate comes out of the hole, the young man puts his money in, and some ropes come down, each with a sign. He pulls on one, and the show begins. We get a peak behind the curtain, and it’s a fascinating glimpse, indeed, as Frederick has found an original way of looking at the selling of sex that is funny and sexy at the same time while also skewering the ways men and women feel about it. There’s not a lot of depth, but in five minutes, it gives you much to think about.
