Why does the groom have a trophy saying, “#1 Adam?” That’s the question I found myself asking while watching Katarzyna Kochany’s quirky, lovely animated film, “Dust Bunnies.” We have a married couple (Adam, played by David Younger, and Eve, played by Kochany) coming into their new home together, but they aren’t the only ones making their way into the house…two dust bunnies sneak under the door. They seem like a pleasant pair, but needless to say, they are an annoyance to the happy couple, especially as they start their life together. They just won’t go away, and keep multiplying, leading to some drastic measures from the couple…well, for the bunnies. For us, it’s known as cleaning. The dilemma in the film is not just couple vs. dust bunnies, however, as the problem reveals some issues in the marriage itself when Adam has his thinking on who should do the work here. It’s simply a bump in the road, though, as the guy wises up, and takes charge with the problem. This is a short and sweet little film, with some well-done animation on the dust bunnies that is simple, but effective. Short storytelling at its best, and well worth discovering.
