Intrigue (Short)
The first thing we see is a gun taped to the underside of a table. We then meet the main characters, who have come together for an exchange: Natasha (Diana Porter) and Antonio (Aaron Andrade). Antonio is cautious, and knows not to take a drink of wine when offered unless they both are drink. Things get heated when the exchange isn’t going as smoothly as it should, and then…things really get heated.
In less than six months, I’ve had the chance to watch two short films from writer-director Mikel J. Wisler (the first was a sci-fi love story called “Parallel”), and I’ve seen two very different films from him. “Intrigue” is essentially a comedy about an escalating situation that begins one way, and ends in a very different way. It’s entirely possible one could see the way this film ends coming before it arrives, but for the sake of respecting the smart storytelling and surprises at work in this film, I’ll let Wisler’s movie reveal itself to you, because it does so in a fun, entertaining way.
