Tillman (Short)
“Tillman” is a quirky, melancholy short film about a family man whose family is hardly idyllic. His eldest son has been in rehab; his daughter can’t stand being a part of this family; and his wife is an alcoholic. Only Connor, his youngest son, seems relatively normal. On top of that, his car business is failing, and his assistant seems more interested in him than work. Will things turn around when the eldest son comes home unexpectedly?
Unfortunately, I kind of had a hard time caring during this 15-minute short film. While the writing by Josh Batista is smart, and the direction by Antonio Padovan gets the tone of the film just right, I didn’t really find myself all that interested in what was going on. Maybe it was because the performances seemed a bit too flat, but all in all, there just wasn’t enough here on an emotional level to make it memorable.
